About me

In 2013, I decided to run a half marathon! I was turning 40 during the year and thought maybe it was time to make a few changes. I smoked twenty cigarettes, I was overweight and hadn't run since I'd left school many years earlier.  Since then I lost weight, run a few more races/runs and haven't smoked since January 2013.
I was never athletic when I was younger, I could never imagine that running and I were a natural fit. But I really love it!  I'm a 'back of the pack' runner who sometimes walk when she feels the need. I love the sense of strength I feel as I run. I have also taken to Crossfit to aid in my quest for a strong core and abs. I love to run with music U2 making up a big part of the play list, I'm always looking for that 'Beautiful Day' run.
I run with a running group the 'RIOT runners' (Running is our therapy)... This group of women have become great friends who offer support and encouragement in all my running endeavours as well as pushing me to give it my all. My mum and sister are also in the group. I am  lucky in that I have the Killarney National Park nearby which offers many running routes.
I live outside Killarney with my husband John. He runs himself now and again.
I love to travel visiting new countries and cities.
